Sarah Ashley Longshore is a modern pop artist taking society by storm. Her cheeky paintings host clever sayings that appeal to millennial women of today’s society. She advocates feminism in a way that is fun and flirty- both through her art and social media platforms- and it constantly reminding women that they are badasses. My favorite thing about her work is the individuality she promotes by being her very unique badass self. Her personality shines strongly through her paintings as well as social media platforms, something that I feel is particularly rare in the photoshopped media frenzy of today. She does not apologize or make excuses about who she is, and she could care less about what anyone thinks of her- which makes her powerful and inspiring in its own way.

Recently, Longshore was asked to design the windows of Bergdorf Goodman of New York City- an incredible honor. Through the front window design and gallery on the 7th floor, Ashleys career was launched into another dimension. She says of her own paintings, “My paintings are representative of the world I see around me. I am inspired by pop culture and things that I find intriguing. I really like to combine the use of words and images in an unexpected way to create a smart, colorful bold statement. Most importantly my love of color is what really makes my artwork “POP”. My paintings are statement pieces that are a reflection of the experiences I have in my life.” Not only does she utilize color in brave ways, but her work features intricate bedazzling and embroidery. Other works of art include massive sculptures, obviously equally as cheeky as her paintings.

Longshore is based out of New Orleans, but traveling and promoting her work two steps at a time. Be sure find her next show near you, and check out her instagram in the mean time!
